Building Custodian

Our District consists of 2 school buildings with day shift custodians during the day and 2nd shift custodians that come in at the end of the school day and clean rooms while the building is empty. Additional duties apply when there are school events after school. During Summers, all custodians work day shift together to take on deep summer cleaning and extra projects to prepare for the new school year.

Duties

Perform routine cleaning tasks including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming to maintain cleanliness in assigned areas.
Conduct floor care activities such as buffing and stripping to ensure surfaces are well-maintained and presentable.
Carry out industrial cleaning duties, including the use of specialized equipment for deep cleaning tasks.
Assist with residential painting projects as needed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of facilities.
Handle custodial responsibilities in commercial spaces, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
Participate in facilities maintenance tasks, addressing minor repairs or reporting issues to the appropriate personnel.
Serve as a porter when required, managing waste disposal and maintaining outdoor areas to ensure a tidy appearance.
Skills

Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
Proficiency in floor care techniques, including buffing and maintenance of various surface types.
Experience in industrial cleaning practices is preferred but not mandatory.
Knowledge of custodial equipment and cleaning supplies used in both residential and commercial settings.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating effective communication skills.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and tasks as needed within the custodial role.
