Program Staff positions provide 24 hour coverage for the program. Duties include observation and monitoring of residents, documentation, incident reports, room checks, reporting of activities to supervisor, communication log for continuity of services from shift to shift, and engaging with residents, planning and facilitating pro-social activities.
Essential Job Functions
● Completion of hourly walkthroughs and documentation. Walkthroughs may be scheduled more frequently as needed to provide trauma informed care and ensure resident safety. OH Supervisor will send an email to the team and leave a note in the communication log to notify staff of the need for more walkthroughs.
○ Examples of spaces for walkthroughs: common areas, bedrooms, yard and porches ■ Basic searches will be conducted unless staff find cause to do a detailed search. All residents will have a notation for each walkthrough time in the log. The log
entries indicate if the resident is at OH or is not at OH at the scheduled
walkthrough-the log entries will indicate they are out on scheduled time or have not returned
● Monitor cleaning schedule to verify residents have completed assigned tasks.
● Initial contact when new residents arrive.
● Engage women in basic group activities in the house (crafts, gardening, popcorn and a movie, etc.)
● Clearing any additional items women may have left after departing from Ophelia’s House. Cleaning the room and laundering the linens if the resident does not do this.
● Reviewing and monitoring security camera footage each shift
● De-escalating potential resident conflicts
● Completing Incident Reports as needed and scanning and emailing them to Ophelia House Supervisor and Interim Executive. Incident Reports must be completed before the end of your shift.
Additional qualifications:
● Adherence to confidentiality of all agency and resident information.
● Interact with residents, staff and professionals in an effective manner while maintaining professional boundaries.
● A basic understanding of trauma-informed care and gender-specific programming
● Proficient in Google, email, and internet.
● Preferred: 1-2 years working with diverse populations ●
Applicants are not drug tested upon hire, but are subject to reasonable suspicion drug testing once hired. Reasonable suspicion is based on specific observations by supervisors, collaborative partners, and repeated reports from residents of the same observations. Triggers for reasonable suspicion testing are based on specific observations by supervisors. These include appearance, behavior, speech, and body odor changes that suggest impairment.
All new staff will go through initial training on: drug awareness and education, harm reduction, de-escalation techniques, documentation, policies and procedures, basic crisis intervention, trauma informed care, and will be CPR/First Aid certified within their first 6 months.
